President Donald Trump plans to attend Saturday’s game between No. 14 Tennessee and No. 1 Texas at Neyland Stadium, the White House confirmed.
The noon ET kickoff on ABC is the SEC opener for both 3-0 teams and the first campus meeting between the programs. ESPN’s College GameDay will also be in Knoxville.
Knoxville police and stadium officials said fans should arrive earlier than usual. All gates open at 9 a.m. Secret Service screening will be in place, and wait times are expected to be longer than a normal home game.
The game is sold out. Tennessee is running its Checker Neyland promotion. Clay Travis first reported the planned visit Wednesday. The White House later confirmed it.
Trump has attended multiple college football games during both of his terms, including national championship games. This is scheduled as his first on-campus regular-season stop of his current term.
