Tennessee starting left guard Wendell Moe Jr. is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season, On3 reported Wednesday, citing sources.
Moe Jr. sustained a lower body injury on the Volunteers’ first offensive series Saturday in a 20-17 loss to No. 1 Texas at Neyland Stadium. Trainers attended to his left leg. He was helped off the field, went to the medical tent, and later went to the locker room. He did not return.
ESPN reported during the broadcast that the injury involved his left ankle. Coach Josh Heupel said after the game he did not have an update.
Tennessee has not confirmed a season ending diagnosis.
Moe Jr., a 6-foot-2, 330-pound redshirt senior, started at left guard in all four games this season. He transferred from Arizona before 2025 and was a first team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press last year after starting 11 games. He entered 2026 on the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award watch lists and was a Walter Camp preseason second team All-American.
When Moe Jr. left against Texas, Sham Umarov moved from right guard to left guard. Donovan Haslam entered at right guard.
Tennessee (3-1, 0-1 SEC) hosts Auburn at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN.
