Ethan Davis out for the season.
Josh Heupel said it Monday. Starting tight end Ethan Davis tore his ACL against Georgia Tech and is done for 2026.
Davis is from Atlanta. He scored the first touchdown in both of Tennessee’s wins. Seventeen yards against Furman on Brandon’s first career scoring throw. Twenty five yards on the opening drive Saturday. Three catches, 43 yards, two touchdowns in two games. Then he limped off between plays, went to the tent in the fourth, and that was it.
Heupel’s words were short. ACL. Remainder of the year.
Davis missed most of fall camp with an ankle injury, got cleared for the opener, and still found the end zone twice in two weeks. He played 38 snaps at Bobby Dodd. In 26 games at Tennessee he has 39 catches, 433 yards, and six touchdowns. He will have a season of eligibility left when he comes back.
The room behind him is DaSaahn Brame and South Alabama transfer Trent Thomas. They have already been splitting snaps. That is who Heupel has now.
Tennessee is 2-0. The tight end who kept opening games in the end zone is not walking out with them the rest of the way.
