Tennessee has named true freshman Faizon Brandon the starting quarterback for the 2026 season.The five-star freshman won the job over sophomore George MacIntyre after competing through spring practice and fall camp. Head coach Josh Heupel informed the team of the decision on Monday.
Brandon, a former top-10 overall recruit out of Greensboro, North Carolina, will make his first start in the season opener against Furman on September 5 at Neyland Stadium. The Vols then travel to Georgia Tech the following week.Brandon was widely viewed as the leader in the competition after strong showings in the preseason scrimmages.
He will become the latest young quarterback to start under Heupel.
